Obituary

Harold Borg, 81, died on Friday, March 24, 2006 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, March 31, 2006 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Rev. Gary Graff officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday at Bethany Lutheran Church with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Harold Carl Borg was born on April 7, 1924 to Carl and Geda (Arstad) Borg in Hill City, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Bethany Lutheran Church in Duluth, MN. He attended school in Duluth graduating in 1943. He then served his country in the US Army during World War II. He returned home after his service and attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and earned his teaching degree.

Harold was united in marriage to Phyllis Lund on July 3, 1954 in Kennedy, MN. Harold taught school in Kennedy, Mentor, and Humbolt, MN, before moving to Red Lake Falls in 1965. He continued teaching in Red Lake Falls until retiring in 1986 after thirty-six years in the classroom. Harold did some substitute teaching and continued to attend school sporting events.

Harold was an avid local sports fan, he also followed professional sports, enjoyed golfing, camping, and traveling. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and Mens group, and had also served on the church council. He was active on the Red Lake County Fair Board, Red Lake Falls School Board, the Minnesota High School Coaches Association, was secretary of the Lions for many years. He was a member of the Red Lake Falls American Legion and active in the Democratic Party.

Harold is survived by his wife Phyllis, Red Lake Falls, MN; 5 children: Steven (Cindy) Borg, Fresno, CA; Cynthia (Tim) Skjoiten, Hatton, ND; Kristen (Tom) Pratt, Chicago, IL; Tim Borg, Red Lake Falls, MN; and Jennifer (Tom) Robinette, Ottawa, Canada; 8 grandchildren: Maren, Andrew, and Peter Skjoiten, Katie and Breanna Pratt, Rachel, Samuel, and Olivia Robinette, 1 brother Eugene (Florence) Borg, Duluth, MN; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters: Frances, Bernice, Verlie, and Guila.
