Harold Thompson, age 75, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, with his family present.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Golv and Rev. Ale Tulu Officiating. Burial will be held at the Holt Cemetery, Holt, MN.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Harold Gene Thompson was born on July 30, 1940 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Clayton Sr. and Gunda (Madsen) Thompson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Harold attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959.

On January 13, 1962 Harold married Verna Lewis at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. To this union three children were born: Carrie, Craig, and Christopher.

Harold started working in the Bee business when he was a teenager and continued to have a beekeeping business in partnership with his brother, Clayton Thompson Jr., until his retirement in 1994.

Harold enjoyed beekeeping, fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was a member of the Sioux Honey Association, the Thief River Chapter of the MDHA, the Pennington County Sportsmans Club, the Eagle's Club, and the Grygla – Fourtown Sportsmans Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the charity of your choice.

Harold is survived by his wife, Verna of Thief River Falls, MN; children, Carrie (David Widmer) Thompson Widmer of New Rockford, ND, Craig (Ronda) Thompson of Canton, SD, and Christopher (Tamara) Thompson of Alexandria, MN; grandchildren, Alison and Elizabeth Widmer, Erica and Lance Thompson, Brenden, Brenna, and Bryce Thompson; brother, Clayton Thompson Jr. of Thief River Falls, MN; sister, Elaine (Bruce) Thorstenson of Cohasset, MN; sisters-in-law, Elaine Thompson of New Rockford, ND, Clare Thompson of Chandler, AZ, and Gaylene (Edward) Schmitz of Excelsior, MN; brothers-in-law, Bernard Casavan of Wessington, SD and Tom Lewis of Goodridge, MN; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Orrin, Adrian, and Erling; infant sister, Gloria; sisters, Joan Robson and Carolyn "Dot" Casavan; nephew, David Casavan; brother-in-law, William Robson and sister-in-law, Barbara Thompson.
