Obituary

Harriet E. Grandbois, 96, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Oakland Park Nursing home in Thief River Falls, MN. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Chuck Huck Officiating. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Johnson Funeral service in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services on Friday. Harriet E. Grandbois was born on August 10, 1917 daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Murphy) Hall in Brooks, MN. She grew up and attended school in the Brooks area. Harriet was united in marriage to Paul Grandbois on June 22, 1943 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN. The couple lived and farmed in Browns Creek Township for fifty-four years. They moved to Thief River Falls in November 1997. After Paul's passing, Harriet continued to live in Thief River Falls until June 2007 when she moved to Sunview Center in Red Lake Falls, MN. In 2012, Harriet moved to Thief River Falls where she spent her remaining years. She enjoyed listening to the Minnesota Twins, reading, playing cards and bingo. Harriet is survived by her two children: Richard (Kathryn) Grandbois of St. Hilaire, MN and Patricia (Ron) Woods of Portage, PA; five grandchildren Deborah Carlson, Dorinda (Alan Krueger) Grandbois, Devon (Emelyn Fredrickson) Grandbois, Danielle (Kyle) Miller, Melissa (Michael) O'Connor; and ten great-grandchildren Alexander, Liam, Laura, Avery, Cameron, Braden, Shaan, Dhru, Bowen, Kimberlee: also survived by son-in-law James Spurrier of Burnsville, MN; sister-in-laws Albina Grandbois of Cucahy, WI, Elveria Hall of Santa Anna, CA and Mary Grundhaus of Thief River Falls, MN along with many nieces and nephews. Harriet is preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1998, infant son Philip, daughter Elizabeth (Betty), infant brother and sister, parents and brother Clarence (uncle Buster). In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic Church building fund.
