Harriet Marie Violette, 78, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at her home in Red Lake Falls surrounded by her loving family. Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Chuck Huck Officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls from 5 - 8 pm with a 7:00 PM prayer service and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Harriet Marie Schmidt was born September 25, 1934 in Red Lake Falls, MN daughter of the late Frank and Angela (Shiefert) Schmidt. She was raised in Red Lake Falls and graduated from Lafayette High School. On June 19, 1952 she was united in marriage to Fred Violette at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls where she raised seven yahoos. Through the years Harriet along with her husband Fred owned and operated a café and meat market which they ran for 18 years. Following their retirement they raised cattle, horses and hay. Some of Harriet's favorite pastimes were reading western novels, crocheting and watching Twins baseball. Harriet is survived by her husband Fred of 60 years, children Wayne (Judy) Violette, Carol Violette, Dale (Lana) Violette, Mark (Lisa) Violette, James (Julie) Violette, and Kevin Violette all of Red Lake Falls, MN and Sally (Neal) Kapp of Anaheim, CA; 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Andrew (Geri) Schmidt of Wisconsin; Frank (Marlys) Schmidt of Red Lake Falls, MN; Margaret Lanctot of Crookston, MN and Evelyn (Delbert) DesRosier of Crookston and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Ray and Harold.
