Harry George Bolstad was born March 15, 1926 at Lindy Hospital Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Henry Selmer Bolstad and Gertrude "Gertie" (Grundhaus) Bolstad. He was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Thief River Falls and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. Harry attended school through the 7th grade. He was the oldest boy of eight siblings. The family consisted of Harry and his six sisters - Jeanette, Loretta, Doris and her infancy twin, Vera, Marlys and the youngest - his brother, Roy. After school, Harry immediately started working on his family's farm in Smiley Township. He took over the farm in his early 20's where he planted wheat, barley, oats, and also had Angus beef cattle. Harry later bought a section of land in Silverton Township that was directly across from his existing farm land. He continued to farm until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed farming, being outside and working hard. In 1990, Harry was united in marriage to his longtime sweetheart, Blanche Uglem in Crookston, MN, with Pastor Orlin Ness officiating. The couple resided in Thief River Falls. Through the years, he enjoyed being with family and friends - many times having the nieces and nephews over for the weekend or time spent in the summers at the farmhouse. Harry was always with his sweetheart, Blanche. They could be found together dancing, going to the local casino, maybe dinner or supper at Dee's, or maybe just coffee and just visiting with friends. Harry is survived by his loving wife, Blanche; stepsons: Bernard "Butch" Uglem of Thief River Falls, MN and Harvey Uglem of St. Paul, MN; stepdaughter: Mardell (Uglem) Madill, of Ukiah, CA; his three sisters: Loretta Stowe of Thief River Falls, MN, Vera Travis, and Marlys Hagelin both of Hillsboro, ND; along with many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents: Henry and Gertrude Bolstad; his brother Roy; his three sisters: Jeanette Gunsch, Doris, and her infancy twin.
