Obituary

Harry Kjaer, 89, died on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at his home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Harry Tilbane Kjaer was born on March 21, 1916 in Barnet Township, Roseau County, MN, the son of Louis and Theoline (Sannes) Kjaer. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Lake Park, MN and attended Lake Park Childrens Home School.

Harry entered the United States Army, in June of 1942, during World War 11, serving as an engineer in Africa, France and Germany. He was Honorably Discharged in November of 1945. Following his discharge Harry returned to Roseau and worked for Prior Electric as an electrician.

Harry was united in marriage to Carol Rasmussen on June 30, 1948 in Roseau, MN. They moved to Red Lake Falls in 1963, where he worked for Detroiter Homes as a maintenance man. In 1968 Harry started working for Arctic Cat in the electrician and maintenance department. In 1972 Harry purchased The Spot, retiring in 1977.

He loved woodworking, repairing worn out appliances and making furniture for his family and friends. Harry also enjoyed fishing and photography was his passion for many years.

He was very active in the VFW in Red Lake Falls and was past commander in Red Lake Falls and Roseau. He was also a member of the Cooties and Roseau Drill Team.

Harry is survived by his wife, Carol of Red Lake Falls, MN; three children: Curtis (Julane) Kjaer of Roseau, MN, Shirley (Vern) Bregier of Red Lake Falls, MN and David (Ann) Kjaer of St. Louis Park, MN; grandchildren: Jason (Cori) Bregier of St. Hilaire, MN, Kristy (Craig) Wilfarht of Buffalo, MN, Jacki Bregier (John Beno) of Plainfield, IL, Joseph (Heather) Bregier of St. Hilaire, MN, Andrew Kjaer of Roseau, MN, Savannah Kjaer of St. Louis Park, MN and Isabella Kjaer of St. Louis Park, MN; great grandchildren: Carly and Connor Wilfarht, Madison Bregier, Kale Beno and Evan Bregier; one sister, Orphie Johnson of Onida, SD; sister-in-law, Mabel Foss of St. Cloud, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Earl, Leonard, Milford, Orville and Marvin; one sister, Raphannie Johnson; brother-in-law, Arnie Johnson; sisters-in-law, Alta and Minnie Kjaer. Harry will be sadly missed by all.
