Harvey attended school in rural country schools. He worked at Red Lake Electric and American Crystal Sugar and began the family farming operation in 1939.
Harvey married the love of his life, Marie Weiss, on October 2, 1945. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved playing cards and visiting with family, friends and neighbors. Another of his great joys was traveling with Marie and together they visited every state in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. Harvey was a hard working man and enjoyed his tractor and field work and farming. He had a name for each of his cows and prided himself in his herd.
