Harvey Claussen, 85, died Monday, October 2, 2006 at CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend George Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Harvey George Claussen was born January 11, 1921 in Moylan Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of John Henry and Christine Bendina (Ennen) Claussen. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He attended grade school at Germantown, MN and attended high school at Crookston Agricultural College. Harvey served his country in the United States Navy as a Seaman 1st Class on the ship California from November 28, 1944 to August 8, 1946. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed as an inspector by Kaiser Aluminum in Spokane, WA until his retirement in 1983. He married Elsie Lindell. In 1970 he married Reba J. Ader. Reba died on April 8, 1987.
Harvey held membership in the United Steelworkers of America, #338 and Eagles. He liked to dance and did so weekly at the Senior Citizen Center, following retirement. He also enjoyed flying. He was especially proud of his house, yard and garden while living in Spokane.
He is survived by 3 step daughters; 5 step grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Baker, East Grand Forks, MN and Violet Olson, Thief River Falls, MN; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
Harvey was preceded in death by wife, Reba Claussen; parents; sisters, Ethel Panek and Alice Claussen and nephew, Harlan Hanson.
