Harvey J. Riendeau, Sr., 89, of Brooks, MN, died on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Harvey Joseph Riendeau, Sr. was born on April 9, 1916 in Red Lake County, MN, the son of Amie and Lumina (Desautel) Riendeau. Harvey was baptized and confirmed at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Plummer, MN and attended rural school near Plummer. He worked at CCC for many years.
Harvey was united in marriage on November 23, 1939 to Mary Ellen Walsh at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Father Proulx. The couple established a farm in Poplar River Township near Brooks, where they lived and farmed their entire life. He also worked a few years for the American Crystal Sugar Company.
He enjoyed fishing and driving around the country.
Harvey was on the Poplar River Township Board for many years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks.
He is survived by his wife, Mary from Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN; two children: Michael (Sharon) Riendeau of Brooks, MN and Harvey, Jr. (Inez) Riendeau of Thief River Falls, MN; four grandchildren: Michelle Riendeau, Renee (Danny) Plante, Sheila Riendeau (Eric Johnson) and Joey Riendeau; eleven great grandchildren: Emily and Nicole Riendeau, Jacob and Jordan Riendeau, Tyler, Branden, Allison, Nicholas, Morgan and Issabella Plante and Hannah Riendeau; two step grandsons: Jon Lenhart of Lancaster, MN and Jene Lenhart of Thief River Falls, MN; three step great grandchildren: Sarah, Thomas and Jonathan; two brothers: Rudolph Riendeau of Milwaukee, WI and Donald (Teri) Riendeau of Tacoma, WA; two sisters: Albina Grandbois of South Milwaukee, WI and Diana Davis of Grand Rapids, MN; two sisters-in-law: Ethel Riendeau of Crookston, MN and Elaine Riendeau of Oxnard, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Amie and Lumina; brothers: Lionel, Albany, Raymond, Wallace and Joseph in infancy; and sisters: Doria, Rosalie and Rose in infancy.
