Harvey Helle Sr. of Thief River Falls, MN age 79, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Rob Kopp officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Harvey Davis Helle Sr. was born on April 1, 1935 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of John and Janette (Jacobson) Helle. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1953 and grew to adulthood in Thief River Falls. Following high school, he attended a trade school where Harvey learned electronics. During the mid-1950's Harvey proudly served his country in Korea with the National Guard. Harvey was united in marriage to Yvonne Gregoire and to this union one son, Harvey Jr. was born in 1958. Harvey was a hardworking man who was always willing to help. He worked at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND from 1969 until his retirement in 1997. He has lived at Valley Home in Thief River Falls since 1998. Hobbies included fishing and spending time at his cabin at Arneson's Rocky Point Resort at Lake Of The Woods . He also enjoyed playing solitaire. Harvey was a member of the American Legion Post 299 in Manvel, ND. Harvey is survived by his son, Harvey (Lori) Helle Jr. of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Alicia Ann and Tiffany Lee; great-granddaughter, Kari; brothers and sister, Daniel Helle of Thief River Falls, MN, Gerald (Jean) Helle of Thief River Falls, MN, and Alice Thune of Thief River Falls, MN. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; his grandparents; brothers, Norman and Lester, and one sister, Laura.
