Obituary

Hazel G. Cloutier, 89, of Thief River Falls, MN died on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Sanford Medical Hospital in Thief River Falls.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Golv & Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.

Hazel Glendora Gulseth was born on April 22, 1921, in Thief River Falls, MN. She was the youngest of six children born to Hilda (Feragen) and Gust Gulseth. Hazel was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939.

Hazel married Harold Beans Nelson in 1941 and they continued to live in Thief River Falls, except for a year in Coos Bay, OR. They had two children: James and Karen. Hazel later married Francis Frenchie Cloutier in 1966. She lived in the high rise in Thief River Falls for many years, then moved to Valley Home, and has lived at Oakland Park since September of 2005.

Hazel worked for the ASCS office, Ekeren Drug, Home Lumber, and the Power and Light Dept. She enjoyed traveling, loved to fish, played cards, enjoyed handiwork and talking about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her early years, she also enjoyed bowling. Hazel always wanted to be dressed up and wear her matching jewelry.

Survivors include one son James (Myrna) Nelson of Bay Lake, MN and Karen (John) Dyrseth of Modesto, CA. Four grandchildren: Mary (Tom) Johnson, Andover, MN; Nancy (Neil) Jones, St. Paul, MN; Cameron (Susan) Dyrseth, Oronoco, MN; and Kristen (Zack) Silva, Soquel, CA. Six great-grandchildren: Kaitlin Johnson, Jacqueline and Michael Jones, Erik and Lucas Dyrseth, and Katie Rose Silva, sister in law Rose Gulseth, Coos Bay, OR, brother in law Trygve Johnson, Tuscon, AZ, and a special nephew and niece, Buzz and Kay Nelson, Thief River Falls, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilda and Gust Gulseth, siblings: Howard, Herbert, Clifford,Myrtle, and Lawrence. Husbands: Harold Nelson, Francis Cloutier, and grandson Craig Dyrseth.
