Hazel Rystad Oklee, MN age 92 died on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Funeral services will 10:00 AM on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN with Pastor Timothy Lundeen officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home. Hazel Christianson was born February 19, 1922 in Trail, MN to Henry and Julia (Tvedt) Christianson. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN and attended Equality Country School. On November 25, 1939 she was united in marriage to Olaf Rystad in Oklee. Together they purchased a farm in Equality Township. After Olaf died in 1948, Hazel moved into Oklee and worked at several restaurants and operated a small daycare service. Hazel loved to spend time embroidering, gardening, playing cards and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was active with the Ladies Aid. Hazel is survived by children, Ordean Harlen Rystad, Oklee, MN, Myonne Edna Sanders, Arlington, TX, Elaine Audrey Boardman, Sheboygan, WI, and Orlando Dale Rystad, Brooks, MN; grandchildren, Nancy, Justin, Carmen, Maria, Amber, Penny; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Cote and Eunice Reinbold; brothers, Orvin, Lawrence, and Clarence Christianson; as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Wanda May; brothers, Herbert, Gilbert, Selmer, George and Joe; and sisters, Johanna, Annie, Lilly, Bernice and Lyla, and twin girls Delores and Darlene.
