Helen Theresa Remick Brule born November 8, 1911 in Donnybrook North Dakota and passed away into God's loving arms August 19, 2008 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 24th, 2008 from 5:00 " 8:00 pm with rosary at 7:00 pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, Red Lake Falls, MN
Helens funeral will be Monday, August 25th, 2008 with visitation one hour prior to the 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls, MN. Interment will be at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery.
Helen was born November 8, 1911 to George and Antoinettie Remick in Donnybrook, North Dakota and lived there until age 5 when her family moved to a farm in the Red Lake Falls area in 1916. Helen attended elementary school at Badger Creek and St. Josephs Academy in Crookston.
From an early age on she learned to do quilting, crocheting and crafts of any kind. She was a leader of 4H clubs and homemakers.
Helen and Adrian were united in marriage on Wednesday, October 24, 1934 at St. Marys Catholic Church 9:30 am by Father Henry Pelger. They farmed for 40 years 5 miles south of Red Lake Falls. Helen loved to work in the fields, milk cows, and raised many capons over the years and worked at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.
Helen and Adrian traveled in their 5th wheel for many years to all parts of USA and finally settled in Homestead FL for the winters and spent their summers at Zimmerman MN on Little Blue Lake. Hurricane Andrew took their trailer and the entire Florida community in 1992. Adrian died in September 1992. Helen moved to the Apple Valley Villa to be near her children and wintered in Mesa AZ for many years. She had many friends at the Villa and had an active social life. Helen loved making doilies, quilts and Afghans for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She spent many hours making her special treasures for each one. The time came when Helen needed more assistance so she moved into an assisted living facility in Bloomington. She continued to fight the cancer with dignity and grace, never complaining and always wanting to please her guests. In July she moved tot Martin Luther Manor Nursing Home, Bloomington, Minnesota.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Adrian, son Dale and daughter in-law Ellen, Brothers Daniel, Joseph, George, Kenneth, Kevin and Sisters Marion Aho and Nettie Perreault. She is survived by son Gerald (Jeanne) of Anoka, daughter Karen (Jim) Gengler of Apple Valley, Brothers Edward (Marian) of Lansing MI, and Bernard of Red Lake Falls. Helen is also survived by 17 grandchildren & many great grandchildren & great great grandchildren.
Helen touched many lives in her lifetime and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who shared in her life.
