Helen Glass of Thief River Falls, MN. age 97, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN, Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 1:30 PM with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church from 12:30 PM- 1:30 PM, Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Helen Catherine Hedberg was born on February 23, 1918 in Duluth, MN, the daughter of Henry and Delia (Patnaud) Hedberg. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She graduated from high school in Morgan Park, Duluth, MN. Helen and Roland "Cy" Glass were united in marriage on May 22, 1937 in Gentilly, MN. They lived in Crookston, MN, when they were first married, until they settled in Thief River Falls, MN. The couple was blessed with five children: Duane, Dale, Nancy, JoAnn, and Jeanie. Helen filled her time with caring for her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included needlework, playing cards, watching her beloved Twins baseball, fishing on Lake of the Woods, and spending time with family and friends. Helen was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the hospital auxiliary where she volunteered for many years. Helen is survived by her children, Duane (Carole) Glass of Thief River Falls, MN, Dale Glass of Isanti, MN, Nancy Clark of Beachwood, OH, JoAnn (Ellery) Cossalter of Esko, MN, and Jeanie (Tom) Lummis of Esko, MN; grandchildren, Lisa (Eddie) Christian, Jennifer Watsick, Stacy (Tom) Roberts, Todd (Mona) Glass, Tiffany (Dave) Miller, David (Jill) Cossalter, and Amy (Brandt) Swedberg; her grandson Scott's wife, Tera; 21 great-grandchildren who lovingly called her "Grandma Great;" brother-in-law, Keith Benson of Duluth, MN; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death are her husband, Cy of 50 years; her parents; grandson, Scott Stewart; grandson, Paul and wife Karen Cossalter; brother, Henry "Toby" Hedberg; sisters, Nora Robert, Orella Rustad, and Geri Benson.
