Helen Olive Roen Knutson died April 12, 2007. Her last days were at the Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Helen was born in Steenerson Township, MN. To Ole O and Sandra (Bergerson) Roen. She attended elementary school at Thorhult, MN. She graduated, Lincoln Senior High School of Thief River Falls, MN., in 1926. She attended Bemidfi State Teachers College receiving her Normal Teachers Certificate June 1938. She taught in many school in Northern MN., from 1938, and retiring in 1977. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Bemidji State Teachers College 1977. She married Kenneth Knutson on June 12, 1938. They later divorced. He died Sept. 12, 1977. She became a self taught accomplished painter and enjoyed gardening.
Helen is survived by her son Leroy Knutson of Grygla, MN. Her daughter Lore Lee Jenson of Mesa, AZ. Her Grandsons, Steve Jenson of Oslo, MN., Clark Jenson of Enumclaw, WA., Brian Jenson of Grand Rapids, MN., and Timothy Knutson of Minot, ND., Her Great Grandchildren Sage Jenson and Ingrid Jenson of Grand Rapids, MN., Her Sister-In-Laws, Ardell Roen, June Newhouse, Harriet Nelson all of Grygla, MN., and Helen Riese of Bemidji, MN. She has many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Ole O and Sandra Roen, her brothers, Willard, Philip and Russell, her sister Joyce Montgomery and her son-in-law John Jenson.
