Helen M. Kvernevig, 78, died on Monday, May 26, 2003 at the Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile, MN.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 30, 2003 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Helen Evenson was born on January 20, 1925 at St. Lukes Hospital in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Harvey and Amandia (Vartdal) Evenson. She was baptized on February 20, 1925 at Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton, MN and was also confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church. She attended school in Wolverton, graduating from Wolverton High School in 1943. Following High School Helen moved to Minneapolis and worked as a ticket agent at the Soo Line Railroad for a year. She then moved to Fargo, attended and graduated as a Beautician from New York School of Hair Design and worked at Koppelmans Beauty Shop in Fargo for several years. Helen also attended and graduated from the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. She also worked for a short time at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
She loved to read, bake, go for walks and spend time at the lake with her father and her Aunt Ella. Helen loved painting crafts and spending time with her family and friends, especially with her granddaughter, Danielle. Helen liked to go cruising around Thief River Falls, when she wasnt able to walk very far any more.
Helen taught Sunday School and Bible School for years at Zion Lutheran Church. She was a member of the PTA, volunteered at the Umbrella Tree at the V.I.P. in Thief River Falls and spoke once on a panel for V.I.P.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Davis of Thief River Falls, MN; one son, Mark Kvernevig of Crookston, MN; one granddaughter, Danielle Davis of Thief River Falls, MN; two brothers: Richard (Marty) Evenson of Bemidji, MN and Walter (Joyce) Evenson of Columbia, MO; one sister Alice Evenson of Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Reverend Robert Evenson; and son-in-law, Wade Davis.
