Herbert Olson, 80, died on Friday, August 27, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Herbert Omer Olson was born on June 18, 1924 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Edwin and Alma (Sletten) Olson. He was raised for the first eight years of his life in Grygla, MN and then moved with his family to Thief River Falls. He served in the US Army for a time. He returned home and was united in marriage to M. Jane Dowling on March 26, 1949. To this union five children were born. Herb worked at Kiewels, Falls Concrete and Owens Appliance as a driver, and at Hartz, docking trucks, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed working as a mechanic and was proficient at parking and backing up semitrucks.
Herb was an avid deer hunter. He also enjoyed driving around the countryside and tinkering. Herb was a naturally talented musician, who was fluent with playing the guitar, violin, accordion, and the banjo.
Herbert is survived by special friend Mae Lindquist, Thief River Falls, MN; mother of Herberts children M. Jane Olson of Plummer, MN; five children: Nancy (James) Heisler, Beltrami, MN; Michael Olson, Plummer, MN; Eddy (Linda) Olson, Red Lake Falls, MN; Julie (Randy) Hesse, Bryant, SD; and Thomas (Peggy) Olson, Crookston, MN; 11 grandchildren; two brothers Leonard (Marlene) Olson, Thief River Falls, MN; Amorin (Elody) Olson, Thief River Falls, MN; one sister Deloris Laura Hoglo, St. Hilaire, MN; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers: Orvis, Erwin, and Morris; one granddaughter Kiara Hesse.
