Herman Schultz of Red Lake Falls, MN, age 68, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Rev. Gary Graff officiating. Burial will be held at the Immanuel Cemetery at Wylie, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church. Herman Vincent Schultz was born on September 9, 1946 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Louis and Orissa (Prestegaard) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. Herman attended grade school in Dorothy, MN and graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls, MN in 1964. Following graduation he went to work for Vigen Construction in East Grand Forks, MN. Herman enlisted into service with the United States Marine Corps in 1966. He did basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA and his Military Occupation Specialty training at Camp Lejeune, NC as a Combat Engineer. He was stationed in Puerto Rico and was honorably discharged in 1968. In June of 1969, Herman was united in marriage to RoseMary Theroux in Red Lake Falls, MN where they made their home. To this union five children were born, Wayde, Chad, Robbie, Angel & Danielle. Following his military service, Herman returned to work for Vigen Construction in East Grand Forks. He started out as a laborer and after a few years, became superintendent with his own crew. Over the next forty plus years he helped build or repair most elevators in the state of North Dakota. He also worked in Minnesota and Oklahoma. Herman retired in 2009 but continued to work part-time for Vigen Construction. He loved his work. In 1998, while working on an elevator project in Fessenden, ND, Herman met Sandi Kittelson. Since then, they have been inseparable. Herman enjoyed gardening, cooking, tinkering in his shop, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, happy-hour with his buddies, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He had a quick wit and great sense of humor. Herman enjoyed being the center of his family. Survivors include his loving companion, Sandi Kittelson of Red Lake Falls; 5 children, Wayde Schultz of Minneapolis, MN, Chad (Michelle) Schultz of East Grand Forks, MN, Robbie (Jacqi) Schultz of Sartell, MN, Angel Schultz of Bemidji, MN and Danielle (Darin)Morrison of Champlin, MN; step-children, Dawn (Tim) Beck of Fessenden, ND and Blake (Mandi) Kittelson of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Brody, Brock, Blake, Rylan, Alyssa, Gaven, Hope, Brooklyn, Jack, Hayden, Emily, Bridger and Britain; brother, Louis Schultz, Jr. of Dorothy, MN; sister-in-law, Laura (Curt) Beyer of Red Lake Falls, MN; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Delbert Schultz.
