Ida J. Nelson, 87, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 23, 2005 at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 4:00 P.M. prayer service and at the church for one hour prior to service on Friday.
Ida Johnson was born on February 10, 1918 in Kratka Township, Pennington County, MN to Hans and Almida (Swanson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church. She attended school in Kratka Township at Meadowlark School, Northrup School, and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.
Ida was united in marriage to Curdis Edward Nelson on June 25, 1944. The couple lived in Thief River Falls until 1970 when Curdis retired. Curdis and Ida spent their winters in the south and summers at their lake home at Springsteel, near Warroad and in later years they returned to Thief River Falls.
Ida enjoyed fishing, flowers, reading, shopping, rummage sales, television, traveling, listening to the radio and winning prizes at stump the staff. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, and Bible Study.
She is survived nephew: Richard (Delores) Peterson, Hallock, MN; nieces Brunelle (Bill) Rondorf, Thief River Falls, Joyce (Richard) Gunderson, Moorhead, Mn, Lois (Bob) Magner, Thief River Falls, MN; Barbara (Mike) Wiener, Minneapolis, MN; Carol (Jim) Larson, Newfolden, MN; Beverly Friedberg, West St. Paul, MN; Geraldine (Douglas) Rossow, Bloomington, MN; sisters in law Helen Olson, Violet (Bernie) Weigel, Lillian Klockman, all of Thief River Falls, MN; Fern (Kenny) Liden, Underwood, MN, Helen M. Nelson, Minneapolis, Betty Nelson, Thompson, MT; cousin Eleanor Joyce, Thief River Falls and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: Ernest Johnson, Hilman Johnson, Morris Johnson, sisters Harriet Peterson, Esther Peterson, and Myrtle Pederson.
