Idella Corrine Hanson was born September 12, 1927 in Garnes Township, Red Lake County, MN the daughter of Hans P. and Naomi (Hofius) Hanson. She attended country school through the eighth grade.

On November 4, 1945, Idella was united in marriage to George Rewertz in St. Hilaire, MN. The couple lived near Plummer, MN on a farm where she was a homemaker, milked cows, did child care and house keeping for many area families. Later they moved into Plummer and in 1960 moved to the south edge of Plummer where she lived the rest of her life. Her husband George passed away in 1989.

Idella enjoyed quilting, baking, (apple pies, buns and cinnamon rolls) ice fishing, making rugs, flower gardening, loved to hold babies, her family was the center of her life, and she loved to entertain. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Plummer where she served as an elder and belonged to the ladies aide until its closing then became a member of the Presbyterian Church in Red Lake Falls. Idella was also active in the care of the cemetery in Brooks, MN.

Survivors include three children, Sheryl (Dennis) Wilkens of St. Hilaire, MN, Terry (Heidi) Rewertz of Red Lake Falls, MN and Barry (Deb) Rewertz of Plummer, MN; ten grandchildren, Paula (Jon) Praska, Jeff (Amy) Wilkens, Sheila (Shoan) Strange, Justin (Amy) Rewertz, Jenea (Sajid) Rewertz-Targui, Ben (Rachael) Largis, Matt Largis, Kelsey (Dano) Stephens, Brett Rewertz and Jill Rewertz; nine great grandchildren, Allen, Jessica, Amanda, Kylea, Zach, Jakob, Jaeger, Syrie and Kiera; three sisters, Margie Prestebak, Norma Swanson and Shirley (Leonard) Yonke; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Patnode, Ann Cardinal and Janet Klettke; brother-in-law, Bobby Rewertz; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; step-father, Hank Althoff; brothers, Harvey, Harold and Allen; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Swanson, Clement Prestebak and Alton Carlson.

Idella Rewertz died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at her residence in Plummer, MN at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 6 days. May her memory be blessed.
