Inga Shand,84, died on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at her son's home in Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN


Inga Shand, 84 of Goodridge, MN died on Thursday, June 30, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at her sons home in Fargo, ND after a courageous six month battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow at Highlanding Cemetery near Goodridge, MN.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Service.

Inga Stokke was born on September 18, 1926 in northwestern Alberta, Canada the daughter of Peder and Nadie (Sawchuck) Stokke.

On February 2, 1951, Inga was united in marriage to Donald Shand in Edmonton, Alberta. To this union five children were born: Dawn, Mark, Roderick, Grace & David. Inga then stayed home to raise their family.

The family moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1966. In 1971 the family moved to the Plummer, MN. In 1979 the family moved to New York Mills, MN. Then they moved to Seattle, Washington. In 1986 they purchased a home in Pennington County and have since resided there. Don died on March 5, 1999.

Inga enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, crafts, drawing, reading, flowers, embroidery, cooking, and made mittens and caps for her family even as a child. Family was always most important in her life. Inga knit sweaters, caps, mittens, wool socks and made quilts for everyone. Making things for her family was such a great joy. She also enjoyed playing games with family and friends in her spare time.

Survivors include three loving children, Dawn (Allen) Bailey of Gilby, ND, Rod (Virginia) Shand of Fargo, ND and David Shand of Goodridge, MN; grandchildren, Cassandra Bailey, Rachel (Lee Johnson) Bailey, Sean Bailey and Jacob Bailey; great granddaughter, Lily Johnson; and many cousins in Canada.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Mark; daughter, Grace; parents; brother, Alf Stokke; and several other relatives.
