Irene Roisland, 89 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN with her loving family by her side.
The service to celebrate Irene's life will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN.
Irene Lorraine Fjeld was born July 9, 1932 on the family farm in Highlanding Township, Pennington County, MN the daughter of Melvin and Gena Norine (Dahlen) Fjeld. She was baptized and confirmed at Ekelund Lutheran Church. She attended country school in Star Township and graduated from the AC in Crookston, MN.
On September 8, 1950, Irene was united in marriage to Frank Roisland in Goodridge, MN. They made their home in Kratka Township, Pennington County, MN. On their farm, they raised small grains and milked dairy cattle. To this union four children were born, Barbara, Gregory, Brenda and Gary.
In addition to her work on the farm, in 1977, Irene began working at Pamida in Thief River Falls where she worked for about 30 years.
Irene always enjoyed spending time with her sisters who were very special to her. She enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, gardening, and especially loved raising her children.
She was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Ladies Aid.
Survivors include her children, Barb Helm, Brenda (Dwight) Mosher and Gary (Bev) Roisland, daughter-in-law, Rachel (Gary) Wolters; grandchildren, Jeremy (Audrey), Jessica (Jed), Arlan (Rachael), Cheri, Christopher (Bethany), Chad (Sheri); great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Kelsey, Daniel, Eliot, Isobel, Evon, Eva, Ethan, Zander, Andie; sisters, Marlys and Beverly (Dick); aunt, Ester Fjeld; nieces and nephews, Allen, Julie, Sherry, Dean; and many other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1991; son, Gregory; son-in-law, Daniel Helm; parents; sisters, Darlene and Doris; brothers, Gordon, Milton and an infant boy; brother-in-law, Alvin; and nephew, Bruce.
Memorials are suggested to the Ebenezer Cemetery Fund.
