Irvin Anton Flatgard was born September 16, 1935 at Mountain Lake, MN, the son of Ingman and Annie (Larson) Flatgard. He was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church, Jackson, MN. Irvin grew up in Windom, MN, where he attended school. In June 1948, he moved with his family to Oklee, MN. He was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Oklee.
June of 1958, Irvin entered the service and served one year in Korea. He received an honorable discharge in 1960.
On July 7, 1960, Irvin was united in marriage to Loretta Lundeen at Oak Park Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN. He worked on a ranch in Havre, MT, drove milk truck, farmed north of Oklee, and also worked at Arctic, Thief River Falls. He trucked for Midland Gas and drove school bus for many years. In 1988, he and Loretta purchased Oklee Quilting Supply
Irvin was a man of quiet faith. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He also served on the Garnes Township Board and was a member of Trail VFW Post #6426. He enjoyed deer hunting, but most of all he loved spending special time with family and friends.
Survived by wife, Loretta, Oklee, MN; children Toni Knutson, Oklee, MN, Dale (Kelly), Austin, MN, LeAnn Bruski, Oklee, MN and Craig (Shelly), Oklee, MN; grandchildren, Cassandra, Dustin and Lee Knutson, Angela, Justin and Travis Flatgard, Jay Bruski and Levi Flatgard; sisters, Emilie (Jerry) Skjerven, Plummer, MN and Elaine (Loren) Mathson, South Heart, ND.
