Irvin Conrad Iverson was born in Goodridge Township, the 4th of 6 children, to Casper and Lena (Strand) Iverson, on September 12, 1916. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Goodridge Lutheran Church. He married Alice Juliet Olson on October 6, 1936 at Goodridge, MN. They were married for over 73 years when Alice passed on June 22, 2010. He and Alice lived on a farm near Goodridge where they raised their 5 children, Conrad, Leon, Allen, Elaine and Judy. In 1974, Alice & Irvin moved to Thief River where they were members of Trinity Lutheran Church. They lived on Eighth Street until February of 2010 when they moved to Valley Home Assisted Living. In April 2012, Irvin was moved to Pioneer Home in Erskine where he passed away on May 15, 2013. Irvin was a farmer. He drove a substitute mail carrier rural route out of Goodridge for many years, was a Goodridge Township Assessor and also served on the Goodridge Township Board for a number of years. In the earlier years, Irvin and Garfield played at barn dances. He drove his team of horses with a sleigh school bus, warming coals in the house and placing them in the covered sleigh for heat. He worked at Ace Hardware in their first years in Thief River. He and Alice had many 'stop in for coffee' visitors in their Thief River Falls home. In his years at Valley Home, Irvin told everyone what good kids he had. In his words: "I've got good kids -- you betcha I do - I've had good kids". He had also begun to often say, "I've had a good life - no complaints". He played his violin and loved to sing for the staff and anyone who would listen. The Pioneer staff said they all knew the Good Morning to You song from him, as he had learned in school years ago.
