Irvin Larson, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN, at the age of 89.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at Johnson Funeral Service.

Irvin Gordon Larson was born on June 19, 1929 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Iver and Agnes (Hansen) Larson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN.  Irvin attended and graduated from high school in Inverness, Montana in 1942.

Following high school Irvin enlisted with the United States Army.  He was honorably discharged in 1953.

As a young man, Irvin started working for Bell Telephone as a lineman and made his career with that company until his retirement on December 28, 1990.

On August 25, 1956 Irvin was united in marriage to Gladys Hedlund in Mora, Minnesota.  To this union 3 children were born: Mary Kay, Jim, Kathryn.  The couple lived in Detroit Lakes, Minneapolis, and Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

Irvin's hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling, and all the Minnesota Sports Teams.

He is survived by his children, Mary Kay Hawrelok of Park Rapids, MN, and Jim Larson of Thief River Falls, MN; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and many other special relatives and lifelong friends.

Irvin was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; his daughter, Kathryn Larson; granddaughter, Diana Triplett; his parents, Iver and Agnes Larson; his brother, Marvin Larson.
