Isabell Vake, 78, of Thief River Falls, MN died on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Thief River Care Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Greg Schram and Pastor Irv Schmitke officiating. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Isabell June Vake was born June 17, 1932 daughter of the late Hans and Alice (Bender) Vake at Oklee, MN. She was baptized in Oklee and Confirmed in the Christian faith at Clearwater Lutheran Church near Plummer, MN. She attended school in the Thief River Falls area and moved with her family to the Iron Range in 1952. Isabell worked at the Woolworth store in Hibbing for two years and later at the factory in Chisholm, MN as a supervisor in the sewing department. In 1977 she moved back to the Thief River Falls area where she worked at Arctic Cat for a few years and later at Northwest Medical Center first in the laundry and later in the sewing department retiring in 1999.
Isabell was an excellent seamstress and loved to garden. She was kind, caring, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Her cats were a big part of her life. She was a very honest woman who believed in the Lord. She was a member of the Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Family was a big part of her life and was very helpful in taking care of her parents.
She is survive by her one sister Rose I. Boucher of Thief River Falls, MN; one sister-in-law Joan Vake nephews, Roger (Bobbi) Vake and Gary (Joanie) Vake; nieces, Diana Stone and Terri (Todd) Wilman. Great nephews and nieces, Travis Pickle, Brad (Carol) Vake, Brett (Carrie) Vake, Amy (Tim) Kalisch and Andrea (Derek) Minnehan: great-great niece and nephew Parish and Aidan Pickle.
Isabell is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Franklin and Andrew: one sister-in-law Grace Vake and brother-in-law Leonard Boucher.
