Ivan Melvie, Thief River Falls, 90 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at The Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Ivan Henry Melvie was born January 6, 1929 in Viking Township, Marshall County, MN to Martin and Lily (Layman) Melvie.  He grew up in Newfolden, MN and attended elementary school in Edgewood, then high school in Newfolden and graduated in 1948 from the Agricultural College in Crookston, MN.  He worked for thirty years as a mechanic in Thief River Falls and Warren for a few places until opening "Ivan's Service" in Holt, MN which he owned and operated for 10 years.

He married Wanda Johnson May 12, 1963.  They made their home in Holt for over 30 years.  Ivan also worked for Davidson Construction for 20 years, for the first 10 years as a mechanic and the second 10 years running the cement batcher.

Ivan enjoyed deer hunting and ice fishing.  They moved to Thief River Falls in 1998.  While living at Skylite in Thief River Falls, Ivan worked part time in maintenance.

Ivan is survived by sisters, Clarice (Jess) Quiner, Minnetonka, MN; Hansina (Marvin) Swanson, Salinas, CA, two sons:  Gaylan (Tracy) Melvie, Spearfish, SD, Ricky Melvie, Port Charolette, FL, two step daughters Susan Parnham, and Shirley (Glen) Stengrim, Mesa, AZ; two grandchildren, James (Jennifer) Parnham,, and Laura Stengrim.

He was preceded in death by wife, Wanda July 4, 2013; parents Martin and Lily Melvie; and sister, Grace Riendeau.
