Jack Cook, 73, formerly of Oklee, MN, died on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Senior Behavioral Center in Bemidji, MN.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service, Oklee, MN with Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Burial will be at Saron Lutheran Cemetery, rural Erskine, MN.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Jack William Cook was born on February 12, 1936 to Merle and Bernice (Brice) Cook at Leyden, ND. As a young boy, he moved to Erskine, MN with his family. When Jack was 15 years old he suffered a head injury. He attended school in Erskine and graduated from high school in 1955. In 1958, Jack joined the US Navy and served his country as a boilerman/repairman for 4 years. He returns home from the service to Erskine, MN.

He was united in marriage to Joyce Plante in January 1963. To this union two children were born, Jackie and Marc. They made their home in Erskine, MN and McIntosh, MN, and Oklee, MN.

Jack was an avid bicycle rider. He was an avid bike rider, who would ride for miles at a time. He religiously watched the Minnesota Twins. Playing smear and other card games was fun for him. Jack suffered most of his life from his injury, which affected his walk and demeanor. He lived at Crossroads Assisted Living for about 2 years and then at Pioneer since last December.

Jack is survived by one daughter Jackie (Keith) Robbins, Park Rapids, MN, 4 grandchildren: Ryan Amiot, Devin Amiot, Rachel Amiot, and Averi Bullinger, 1 great grandson Daniel Johnson, 2 brothers, Richard (Marci) Cook, Oregon, Terry (Eilene) Cook, Erskine, MN.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, one son Marc in 1986, and brother Ronnie Cook.
