James "Jim" Edward Koropatnicki was born August 21, 1942 in Leroy, North Dakota, the son of Nick and Cecelia (Doyle) Koropatnicki. He was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leroy, ND and confirmed at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. He attended school in Leroy, until moving to Thief River Falls at the age of 12. Jim attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. Following high school he moved to California for one year before moving to Minneapolis, where he lived for five years. Jim was united in marriage to Phyllis Irene Olson on August 3, 1963 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. He began employment with UPS in Thief River Falls in 1966. In the late 1970's Jim became self employed in farming and had his own Trucking Business. He retired from trucking in 1998 and continued to farm. Jim was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Survived by wife, Phyllis; two sons: Dale Koropatnicki of Tempe, AZ and Dean Koropatnicki and Lisa Ashley of Cottonwood, AZ; one brother, Ted (Darlene) Koropatnicki of Goodridge, MN; one sister, Peggy Koropatnicki of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Cecelia Koropatnicki. Jim died on Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at his residence. May his memory be blessed.
