Obituary

James Scott, 73, died on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at his home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 28, 2011at Bethany Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, MN, with Reverend Gary Graff officiating.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN.

James Eldon Scott was born October 7, 1937 at Canton, SD, the son of Lynn and Veneada (Glasser) Scott. He attended school in Sioux Falls, SD, graduating from Washington High School in 1956.

On October 13, 1955, James was united in marriage to Marie Johannsen at Luverne, MN.

In 1957, he entered management training for J J Newberry Five and Dime. He transferred to a Newberry store in Grand Forks, ND and in April of 1963, he began employment with Detroiter Mobile Home in Red Lake Falls, MN, where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 2007.

He was a member of the Thief River Falls Theater Group, the Two Rivers Area Theater and the Crookston Community Theater. He loved riding motorcycles, singing and had sung in the Crookston area for many years. He was Real Beard Santa for nine years. He loved the theater, but most especially he loved the special times with his grandchildren.

James is survived by his wife Marie, Red Lake Falls, MN and a daughter, Terri Scott, Crookston, MN; 4 grandchildren: Julia (Joe) Seimo, Fargo, ND, Chelsea Hahn, East Grand Forks, MN and twins, Maryah and Nora Hahn, Crookston, MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by parents, sister Joan Nelson and brother, Jack Scott, and 8 half siblings.
