James Temple, 80, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at his home in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Memorial gathering will be held on Thursday October 10, 2002 from 5 " 9 PM at the American Legion Club in Bagley, MN.
James Temple was born December 28, 1921 at Duluth, MN. He was raised in the Roseau area by his grandparents, where he spent his childhood and young adulthood working on the farm. In 1944 he married Marie Anderson in Northern Minnesota. Soon after the young family relocated to North Dakota where Jim worked in the oil fields near Tioga. In 1959 the family moved to Washington where Jim found work as a heavy equipment operator. These jobs took him to far away places such as the Great Alaska Pipeline, Greenland and the Hoover Dam. Later in life Jim moved back to Northern Minnesota, including Big Falls, Bagley and then Red Lake Falls where he logged and bought and sold automobiles. Jim enjoyed watching and reading westerns, dealing old cars and spending time with his many lifelong friends. He also enjoyed telling the stories of his many adventures and travels. Jim is remembered for his strong independence and rugged individualism. Its been said of Jim that he lived life his own way.
Survivors include one son Terry Temple of Bathell, WA; four daughters Sandy (Larry) Key of Redmond, WA, Linda (Bill) Hallman of LaGrande, OR, Jane (Roger) Jacobson of Kirkland, WA and Sherry (Scott) Nishimato of Auburn, WA, Eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, wife Marie and a son Tom.
