James Wiener, 68, died on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Tim McGee presiding. Burial will be in St. Bernards Catholic Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, January 23, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls with a 7:30 P.M. prayer service on Monday evening and at the church for one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
James Ronald Wiener was born on September 14, 1937 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Casper and Susan (Althoff) Wiener. He was the 9th of 10 children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.
James was committed to state guardianship in 1951. He was admitted to Faribault State Hospital on September 25, 1953 until he moved at the Fulton Residence in Red Wing on October 4, 1983. James attended the Goodhue County DAC 5 days weekly while in Red Wing. On January 20, 1984 he moved to Johnsons Riverside Boarding Home in Thief River Falls, where he continued to live until August 12, 2002, when he moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, where he has since resided.
James enjoyed gardening, riding in the pickup, playing with cars, swinging on the swing and spending time outdoors.
James is survived by two brothers: Robert (Bernice) Wiener of Kelly Lake, MN and Jerome (Lila) Wiener of Babbitt, MN; four sisters: Marion (Orville) Joppru of Thief River Falls, MN, Grace Vake of Thief River Falls, MN, Joan Vake of Chisholm, MN and Doreen Dargon of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Stanley; and two sisters: Gladys Johnson and Cleo Mae St. Martin.
