Jane Marie Durkin was born on May 27, 1953 at St. Michaels Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of John and Eleanor (Kowalczik) Durkin. She was baptized in June of 1953 and confirmed at St. Marys Catholic Church in Grand Forks. Jane attended St. Marys Grade School, South Junior High School and Grand Forks Central, graduating in 1972.

Jane enjoyed being a full time mother. She lived in Grand Forks until the mid 1980s, when she moved to Thief River Falls, both of her children were born there in the late 1980s.

Jane was devoted to her children and family. She was strong willed, as her behavior and conversations showed. She had been through so much in her life, beginning at only seven weeks old with her first surgery. Throughout her life, the Lord tested her many times, as she had 25-30 surgeries. She was a fighter, and also a firm believer in Christ. She loved to have a goodtime and brightened the room wherever she went.

Jane is survived by two daughters, Laura Paulson and Christine Paulson, both of Thief River Falls, MN; her parents, John and Eleanor Durkin of Grand Forks, ND; one brother, John (Linda) Durkin of Grand Forks, ND; four sisters, Carol (Jon) Trott of Chicago, IL, Marilyn Schuman of Grand Forks, ND, Shirley (Wayne) Hooey of Lakota, ND and Karen (Rick) Woodard of Duluth, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and one brother, Ronald, who died at birth.
