Janet Kay Olson, 53, died Friday, October 9, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, at MeritCare Northwest Campus in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Wollenzein officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Church Cemetery, rural Shelly, MN at 3:00 PM on Tuesday.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Tuesday at the church.
Janet Kay Dybing was born in route to the hospital on Highway 75 south of Georgetown, MN on August 14, 1956 the daughter of Roy and Lily (Nelson) Dybing. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She attended elementary school in Shelly, MN and graduated from Climax, MN High School.
On September 7, 1974 she married Kenneth Olson in Shelly, MN. To this union there were two children born, Corey and LeAnn. They made their home in Thief River Falls. Janet enjoyed raising her children and provided a daycare in her home until 1989 when she started working at Digi-Key. In August of 2009, Janet was recognized for her 20 years of service to Digi-Key. She was manager in the Product Distribution Center and was currently Corporate Communications Manager.
Janet enjoyed the precious time with her family. Holidays, camping and spoiling the grandkids were among her favorite. She was a wonderful cook; she enjoyed cooking and baking for all her family and friends. Janet was part of a family tradition on Thanksgiving where they would make crafts and then give them away for Christmas. One of Janets most memorable times was her trip to Hawaii with Ken, Marilyn and Gene.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.
Survivors include husband Ken Terry Olson of Thief River Falls; son, Corey (Cindy) Olson of Omaha, NE; daughter, LeAnn Fremling of Thief River Falls; three grandchildren, Blaine, Caleb and Kassidy; brothers and sisters, Shirley Solhaug of Shelly, MN, Wayne Dybing of Shelly, MN, Mary Lou (Don) Porter of Harwood, ND and Gene (Marilyn) Dybing of Shelly, MN; sister-in-law, Nancy Dybing of Shelly, MN; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Russell Dybing; niece, Stephanie Dybing; brother-in-law, George Solhaug; and Ervin Dybing.
