OKLEE, MN- Janis Rahier, 73 of Oklee, MN died on Tuesday, August 04, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN. Arrangements with Petterson Funeral Home in Oklee, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 1998 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN at 2:00 PM with Reverend Robert Paulson Officiating.
Burial will be held in the Zion Cemetery near Oklee, MN.
Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Oklee and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Janis May Rahier was born December 20, 1924 near Borup, MN daughter of Louis C. and Hulda (Tollerud) Larson. She was raised there and attended rural school graduating from Ada High School. She attended Moorhead Teachers College in Moorhead, MN graduating in 1943. Janis taught in various places before moving to Oklee, MN. On September 19, 1948 she was united in marriage to LeRoy Rahier at Borup, MN. The couple made their home near Oklee where they farmed and she taught in the Oklee school system for 41 years retiring in 1986.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the Ladies aid and served on the church board. She also was a member of the Minnesota Education Association. Janis enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, baking and crocheting.

Janis is survived by her husband LeRoy Rahier of rural Oklee: son Gary Rahier of rural Oklee; daughters Sheryl Payne of Thief River Falls, MN; Gayle Flateland of Oklee, MN and Deborah Whalen (Greg) of Oklee, MN. Grandchildren John Olson, Jason Olson, Michael Payne, Christopher Flateland, Nathan Whalen and Stephen Whalen: great-grandchildren Shae Olson, Quincey Olson, Tyrus Olson. Sisters Gladys Luchan of Ada, MN and Agnes Jensen (Alvin) of Puyallup, WA and brother Lloyd Larson of Gary, MN: several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Rahier in 1956, parents and two brothers Chester and Allen.
