Obituary

Jared Burns, Goodridge, MN, age 31 died Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at his home. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Rev. Vicki Saude-Worthington and Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Monday at Grace Lutheran Church. Jared William Casper Burns was born eight weeks early at 3 pounds 9 ounces on April 10, 1984 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Rodney and Diane (Sletten) Burns. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN. Jared attended Washington Elementary, was in the first fifth grade at Challenger Elementary, Franklin Middle School and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 2002. During his high school years, Jared worked at McDonalds. This allowed Jared to collect his "toys" which include his 4-wheeler, snowmobile, and his pickupwhich were all utilized for racing! He did snowmobile racing, quad racing and also did ice racing with his snowmobile on a track in Strathcona. On March 5, 2003, Jared started working at Machinewell in Grygla, MN and has been a dedicated, loyal employee ever since. He was a "jack of all trades" with a title of Lead Machinist. He had a lot of pride in his company and his co-workers. He also worked at home at Burns Welding with his father building fire boxes for wood stoves, for Carl and Diann Anderson, and for Agassiz Tool. Jared enjoyed hunting and fishing and would take great pride in making sure that his family and friends were successful. He was a great shot and always sighted in the rifles. Jared was quick witted, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed pulling pranks and telling tall tales. Jared loved his nieces and nephews and would even let his nieces paint his fingernails. He once asked by his mother to build a simple dog house and it turned out to be 2-story dog house with siding and shingles. Jared had a unique skill when it came to card games and board games; he never lost! Jared was a member of the Grygla Jaycees. He loved and enjoyed supporting the Grygla community. Survivors include his mother, Diane Burns of Thief River Falls, MN; siblings, Nicole (Tony) Kiesow of Goodridge, MN, Jeremy (Laurie) Burns of Huron, SD and Allison (Scott) Weinmann of Thief River Falls, MN; grandmother, Marilyn Sletten of Thief River Falls, MN; nieces and nephews, Alexis, Kayla, and Hunter Kiesow, Morgan, Paige, Brandon and Chase Burns and Conner Weinmann; many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, co-workers, friends; and most importantly his faithful nemesis and companion, Merle. He is preceded in death by his father, Rodney; brother, Nicholas "Pickle", infant sister, Natalie; grandparents, Clarence Sletten, Jerry and Fern Burns, and cousin, Mitchell Johnson.
