Jason Grindeland, 38 of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his residence in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the service to celebrate Jason's life at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

Jason Edward Grindeland was born on Valentines Day, February 14, 1987 in Moorhead, MN. Jason lived with a heart full of passion, humor, and a spirit that made everyone feel welcome. He had a strong unforgettable unfiltered, goofy energy, and always down to make people laugh.

Jason never judged anyone, (unless your appearance hurt his sense of style), instead he made space for people just as they were.

A gifted writer and life-long music lover, Jason began making music at a young age. It was one of his greatest outlets and creative passions and through it he expressed pieces of himself that words sometimes couldn't hold.

Jason was deeply connected to his family, especially his grandma Sharon. If you knew Jason you knew Grandma Sharon, or at the very least you heard about her. He also shared a close bond with his mom, Kris and sister, Amanda, both of whom he loved dearly.

He was a father to two children, his son, Aiden and his daughter, Elle. Although life didn't allow him to be fully in their lives as he had hoped, his love for them never wavered, and now in his passing, he will be with them in a new way watching over them always.

Jason is survived by his children; mother, Kris Grindeland of Goodridge, MN; brother, Jeremy (Connie) Grindeland of Roseau, MN; sister, Amanda Grindeland of Fargo, ND; grandma, Sharon Grindeland of Goodridge, MN; father, Keith Sorenson of Crookston, MN; step-father, Gary Hasby of Goodridge, MN; step-sister, Taren Hasby of Red Lake Falls; step-brother, Jaye Pyatte of Red Lake Falls; uncle, Chad (Julie Pierson) Grindeland; aunts, Darcy Rozowski, Toni (Kenny) Larson, Jackie Grindeland; and many cousins, extended family and friends who will forever carry his memory.

He is preceded in death by his grandpa, John Wayne Grindeland.

He was real, he was light, he was loved.
