Obituary

Jean Petterson, 58, died on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at her home in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will be in Faith Garden of Rest in New Effington, SD

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer service on Tuesday evening and also at the church for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Jean Marie Petterson was born on June 10, 1948 in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Nils and June (Schultz) Petterson. She was baptized and confirmed at Brandvold Lutheran Church in Victor, SD and attended school in New Effington, graduating from New Effington High School. Following school she attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD, graduating in May of 1970.

Jean moved to Thief River Falls in 1970 and began teaching Elementary School until retirement in 2004. She loved kids and teaching.

Jeans family was very important to her. She enjoyed Book Club, reading, teaching reading, sewing, gardening, especially flowers, playing the accordion, doing fancy work, photography, and traveling. She also liked to bake and make lefse. Jean was a very talented musician and enjoyed giving piano lessons.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Redeemer WELCA and played for the choir.

Jean is survived by two sisters: Judy (Jerry) Johnson of Belle Fourche, SD and Elaine Broz of New Effington, SD; nieces and nephews: Claudette (Dale) Ostby of New Effington, SD, Jacki (Sandy) Limpert of Buffalo, SD, Michelle (John) Ebben of Wilmot, SD, Audrey (Tyler) Bickerdike of Bell Fourche, SD, David (Jenni) Johnson of Custer, SD and Chad (Sara) Broz of New Effington, SD; 14 great nieces and nephews; her dog, Yetta; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Knute Broz; and one niece, Courtney Limpert.
