Obituary

Jean G. Schindler 88, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday April 28, 2012 at 2:30 PM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Chuck Huck Officiating and Father Gerald Noesen Concelebrating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Jean Gladys Schindler was born April 28, 1923 at Crookston, MN daughter of the late Isadore and Diana (Poirier) Amiot. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gentilly. She was raised in the Gentilly area and attended rural school. Jean worked in Crookston at St. Francis Hospital as a nurse's aid. On November 10, 1943 she was united in marriage to Edward Schindler at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Crookston. The couple moved to a farm in Louisville Township near Red Lake Falls where they farmed raising grain and livestock. Edward passed away in 1989 and Jean moved into Red Lake Falls shortly after where she has resided since. Jean drove school bus for 12 years. She always had a garden, doing lots of canning every year. She took hospice training in 1993, made a book of prayers for the Legion Auxiliary was active in the French Club, was chairperson for Bingo for the Catholic Daughters of which she was a charter member and Hillcrest Nursing Home Auxiliary. Jean volunteered for the Senior Nutrition site, delivering home delivered meals, was a member of the Lake Pleasant Homemakers Club and was "Outstanding Senior Citizen" in 1993, along with receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award. Jean is survived by her children Jerome (Margaret-Markie) Schindler of Red Lake Falls, MN; Alan (Sharon) Schindler of Chaska, MN; Judy (Roger) Dziengel of Kennedy, MN; Germaine (Floyd) Balstad of Erskine, MN; Dorothy (Leroy) Nelson of Thief River Falls, MN; Anna (Michael) Frigon of Jackman, ME and Mary Lou (Donald) Huot of Alexandria, MN: daughter-in-law Brenda Schindler of Red Lake Falls, MN: grandchildren Michael (Jolynne) Dziengel, Wendy (Brent) Hatlewick, Tony VanDenEinde, Sheila (Allen) Gatlin, Connie (Ted) Weaver, Dawn (Chris) Shawley, Nick (Catherine) Schindler, Dean (Carol) Nelson, Jeff (Jana) Nelson, David Schoenmann, Glen (Claudette) Schoenmann, Aaron Schindler, Krya Schindler, Brian (Krista) Huot, Karen (Aaron) Chalich, Stacy (Fiancé Mike Olson) Huot and Clay Schindler: great-grandchildren Aleshia, Austin, Samantha, Baylee, Derek, Evan, Nolan, Brady, Kyle, Jackson, Luke, Owen, Emily, Alice, Alex, Logan, Kade, Isabela, Keegan, Madison, Brianna, Chloe. Sisters Marcella Roman of CA; Pat Schindler of Red Lake Falls, MN; Madonna Hammett of CA; Georgian Marsh of CA and Darlene Schenk of CA: along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, infant son John, son Roger, brother Jerome Amiot and sister Lorraine LaPlante.
