Obituary

Jean Beyer Weinberg, age 86, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Jean's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN, with Rev. John Bumgardner officiating. Interment will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Wylie Cemetery, rural Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls. Jean Katharine Beyer was born June 9, 1928 at Hollywood Hospital in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Chester Winfred and Beatrice Grace (Lampe) Beyer. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wylie, MN. Jean attended Elementary School in Dorothy, MN and Grade 6th through 12th Grade in Red Lake Falls, MN, graduating from Layfayette High School in Red Lake Falls as Valedictorian She attended and graduated with a BA Degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. Jean was the first college graduate in the Beyer family. Jean was united in marriage to Reverend George C. Weinberg in 1951. Jean and George were married until 1982 when the couple divorced. She worked at Macalester College Personnel Office from 1950-1951, Boston Store and various secretarial jobs in the Milwaukee area from 1970 to 1982. Her husband was the founding pastor of the Brookfield United Presbyterian Church in Brookfield, WI. He was instrumental in building their church, educational unit, and home - where they lived from 1960-1973. Jean organized Brookfield United Presbyterian Women's Association in the 1960's. In 1983 Jean moved to Red Lake Falls, MN. She lived with her mother from 1983-1984 and at Fairview Manor from 1984 to the present. Jean was a St. Joseph School Foster Grandparent from 2000 to2008, President of Sunview Resident Council from 2006 to 2008, served as a senior companion and was a member of the HRA Board. Jean is survived by four children, Ruth Ann Wolf, Racine, WI, Donald (Joanne) Weinberg, Wauwatosa, WI, Kathryn Jo (David) Weinberg-Kinsey, Wauwatosa, WI and Karl George (Diane Magnusson) Weinberg, Jackson, WI; nine grandchildren, Timothy Wolf, Michael Wolf, Lindsay (Ben Chandler) Weinberg, Jesse Weinberg, Julia Weinberg, Russell (Amanda Flott) Kinsey, Hannah Weinberg-Kinsey and Mitchell Weinberg-Kinsey, and Eric Dolister; sister-in-law Jean Theresa Beyer; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Chester Beyer; grandparents, Otto Beyer and Katie Jane MacArthur and Edward Lampe and Kristen Jensen; three brothers, Chester Thane Beyer, Irving Ward Beyer; sister-in-law, Adeline Beyer; infant brother, Neil Beyer; niece, Vicki Beyer and special friend, Esther St. Michel.
