Obituary

Jeanette Arhart, 85, died suddenly on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.


Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, July 10, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be 9:30 AM " 10:30 AM, Monday at Zion Lutheran Church.

Jeanette Bernice Tveit was born January 2, 1921 at Oklee, MN, the daughter of Gunstein and Thora (Neset) Tveit. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. Jeanette was raised on a farm north of Oklee and then moved with the family northeast of Thief River Falls, MN, where they purchased a farm. She attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938. She also took Normal Teachers Training and received her teaching certificate in 1939. Jeanette taught in a one room schoolhouse for 3 years east of Thief River Falls. She moved to Ogden, UT and learned instrument repair for airplane repair during World War ll. She then went to nursing school at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1946. She returned to Thief River Falls and began working at St. Lukes Hospital as a surgical nurse.

On May 25, 1948, Jeanette was united in marriage to Glenn Arhart in St. Paul, MN. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. In 1951, Jeanette quit nursing to raise her family.

Jeanette was active in Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, where she taught Sunday School for many years, a member of the Women of Zion, enjoyed leisure fellowship and Bible studies. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and traveling. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by husband, Glenn, Thief River Falls, MN; children, James (Kathy) Arhart, Lakeville, MN and Mary Anne (Randy) Coleman, Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Kyja and Kesley Arhart, Sean and Erik Coleman; sister, Gladys Rasmussen, California and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette is preceded in death by parents, Gunstein and Thora, sisters, Gudren Toombes, Alice Brager and Thelma Peterson.
