Marie Blanche "Jeanne" Harren died peacefully September 2, 2015, at Pioneer Nursing Home in Erskine, Minnesota after a full and blessed life. Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bill DeCrans Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 7, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at St. Joseph Catholic Church and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Jeanne was born on March 28, 1928 in Dunrea, Manitoba to Jules and Blanche Deschenes. She attended St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing in Winnipeg. After earning her degree she moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where she worked as an RN at Miller Hospital. While in St. Paul she met Joseph Harren whom she married on June 28, 1952. Jeanne and Joe moved to Red Lake Falls, where Joe was busy practicing law and Jeanne raising their ten children. Jeanne remained active in nursing as a volunteer with the blood bank, American Cancer Society, volunteer ambulance, hospice and served on the board of Northland Community & Technical College's nursing program. Jeanne was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church serving on committees and teaching CCD classes. When her youngest children were teenagers, Jeanne went back to school for real estate. When licensed she worked as a realtor for Action Reality. She also served as an interpreter for the 9th Judicial Court. Jeanne was a dedicated wife and mother, a great cook and an accomplished seamstress. She spent many hours with needle and thread in hand, sewing clothing for her family or draperies for her home. With Joe as her assistant she also reupholstered many pieces of furniture for family and friends. After Joe retired they moved to Warroad, MN making their home along the Swift Ditch for the next 23 years. Jeanne will be greatly missed by her nine children and their spouses, John & Patricia, Warroad MN, Richard & Suzanne, Wasilla, Alaska, Jeannette Knott, Red Lake Falls, Susan & Knute Knutson, Red Lake Falls, Jacqueline & Brent Edison, Fargo, ND, Mark & Dawna Harren, Warroad, MN, Peter & Nicky Harren, Anchorage, AK, Sheila & Perry Nagel, Grand Forks, ND and Paulette & John Ditzler, Eagle River, Alaska, 38 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, four sisters Madeleine Saurette, Margaret Sprogis, Martha Smith, and Bernadette (Vern) Keel and Brother Raymond Dechenes. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, son William and brothers, Paul, Antoine, JeanLeon and Gabriel. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Hospice, St. Joseph Catholic Church, or the charity of your choice.
