Jeffrey Stewart Calhoun (June 14 1948-July 18 2020)
Born June 14 th 1948 in Thief River Falls Minnesota, Jeff was the first-born child to George H Calhoun and Thordis Jean Calhoun. Jeff graduated from Vista High School in 1966 and was on the high school baseball team as a pitcher. He attended Palomar Junior College after high school and then transferred to San Diego State University where he graduated with a business degree in 1975. He obtained his California Real Estate Brokers License in 1975 and began a short career in Vista California selling real estate.
As California population and traffic congestion increased during the mid-70's, Jeff began to miss the rural life of the mid-west and decided to move back to Minnesota in 1977. In 1978 he began a 36-year career as a purchasing agent with Marvin Windows and Doors in Warroad Minnesota and in 1981 purchased a home on the Warroad Estates golf course located on beautiful Lake of the Woods. This relocation back to Minnesota introduced him to many of his long-term cherished friendships with fellow Marvin employees and neighbors. He retired in 2014 and said one of the best decisions he ever made was to move back to Minnesota due to the career he loved for over three decades and the long-term friends he met. Jeff enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, designing and building bird houses on his golf course property to provide housing every spring for many species of birds to nest. He loved working in the outdoors especially during the Fall season. He served many years on the Port Authority Board and volunteered many years for the Warroad Summer Theatre. He attended Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad and always enjoyed a personal relationship with his savior Jesus Christ.
Jeff is survived by his sister Janet (Bill) and brothers John (Carolona) and Joel (Ramona) along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George (2019) and Thordis Calhoun (2012). There will be a private service held this Fall in Warroad Minnesota and he will be interned at Zion Lutheran cemetery in Oklee Minnesota.
