Jens K. Bach, 75, of Thief River Falls, passed away at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, ND on Tuesday, January 29, 2008.

Jens Kjald Bach was born on February 14, 1932 in Colman, SD to Kristen Christenson and Myrthe (Jokumson) Bach. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on April 26, 1932 and was confirmed at Midway Lutheran Church in Colman, SD. Jens attended school in Eagen, SD and served two terms in the USAF from 1950-1958. On September 14, 1953 Jens was united in marriage to Alfreda May Skadsem.

He worked as a Civil Service Fire Fighter for many years and was promoted to Crew Chief and then Deputy Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief. During this time he also farmed west of Thief River Falls and founded Bach Trucking. He served as a Numedal Township Supervisor from 1987 until 1999. Later Jens worked as a school bus driver for the Thief River Falls school district until 2004.

Jens thoroughly enjoyed tinkering around on anything mechanical. He loved the outdoors as well as taking trips out to Montana to hunt elk and deer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 117 and the Eagles.

Jens is survived by his loving wife Alfreda; children, David (Julie) Bach of Thief River Falls, MN., Rhonda Bach of Red Lake Falls, MN., Robin Bach and Diane (fianc Richard Tischman) Bach both of Thief River Falls, MN.; grandchildren, Daren Asp, Jared Asp, Danica (Josh) Frazer, William Haugan, Lucus Haugan, Travis Bach, and Christian Johnson; brother Walter Bach of Flandreau, SD. and sister Violet (Louis) Kramer of Flandreau, SD. as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his children LaVonne and Jens Jr.; brother Elmo Bach; sisters Fern Anderson, Evelyn Savillano and Rose Peterson and two infant sisters.
