Rev. Jerome L. Felion, 89, formerly of Red Lake Falls, MN, died May 10, 2011 in Harlingen, TX.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM, Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass on Monday, May 16 at the church in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, St. Paul, MN.

Jerome L. Felion was born August 30, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN to Arthur and Ethel Felion. He was ordained June 11, 1947 at the Josephinum Chapel in Columbus, OH by Amleto Giovanni Cardinal Cicognani, Apostolic Delegate of the United States. Fr. Felion was first appointed as assistant to St. Josephs Church in Red Lake Falls, MN, on June 12, 1947. He served the following Diocese of Crookston parishes: St. Joseph, Red Lake Falls and St. Lawrence, Mentor 1947-50. St. Anne, Crookston and St. Joseph, Fertile 1950-55. St. Vincent, Plummer, St. Charles, Trail, and St. Gertrude, Rhoda 1955-59. Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Fosston and St. Lawrence Mentor 1959-65. St. Patrick, Hallock and St. Ann, St. Vincent 1965-71. St. Michael, Mahnomen and Immaculate Conception, Bejou 1971-77. St. Philip, Bemidji and Sacred Heart, Wilton 1977-79. St. Joseph, Red Lake Falls 1979-84. St. Joseph, Brooks 1984-89. St. Francis Xavier, Oklee 1984-91. St. Joseph, Brooks and St. Vincent, Plummer 1991. Fr. Felion retired on September 2, 1991.

After retirement, Fr. Felion moved to the Lower Rio Grande Valley,Texas, where he filled in and served many local parishes including Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Anthony; Queen of the Universe, Queen of Peace, Benedictine Monastery of the Good Shepherd, Starr County Benedictine, Rio Grande City; as well as serving as a pastor for the Willacy County Prison/Correctional System in Raymondville and Edinburg TX.

Fr. Jerome Felion is survived by a brother, Paul Felion, MD of La Crosse, WI, and numerous nieces and nephews both of Harlingen, TX and in the Minneapolis, MN area.
