OBITUARY FOR JERRY BROTEN
THIEF RIVER FALLS, MN


Jerry Broten, 64, of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, died at his home on January 4, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on January 9, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at 1 P.M. at the Viking Cemetery in Maddock N.D. on Thursday, January 10, 2008.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from 5-7 P.M. at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

Jerry was born on May 11, 1943 in Maddock, N.D. to Johnnie and Marlys (Paulson) Broten. He attended high school in Maddock and went on to serve in the Air Force for four years. He was united in marriage to Dawne Gullard in Thief River Falls in 1974. Jerry was a mechanic at Falls Diesel in Thief River Falls from 1974 until 1987. He then worked for Kristen, Inc. for several years.

Jerry was very fond of music and playing his guitar. He enjoyed running steam engines at the Rollag Steam Threshing Show and loved motorcycle riding. He also attained a private airplane pilot license.

Jerry is survived by his wife Dawne Gullard of Thief River Falls; brother Dean (Marlene) Broten of Mesa, AZ; one uncle, Arland (Thelma) Paulson of Maddock, ND; 1 niece, Deeann Broten of Thief River Falls, brother-in-law Allen (Patricia) Larson of Tucson AZ; 1 step niece, Jody Sather of Sioux Falls, SD; 1 step nephew Jeff Foss of Sebeka, MN; and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts and uncles.
