Joan "Joni" Berg, 63, of Goodridge, MN died on Wednesday, March 05, 2008 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Memorial Services will be held 4:00 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.

Joan Eileen Magnuson was born on May 27, 1944 to John and Inga (Tollefsrud) Magnuson in Devils Lake, ND. She was the second of four girls. She grew up in Churchs Ferry, ND and attended school there and graduated in 1962.

Joni attended beauty college in Fargo where she met her future husband. Joani was united in marriage to S. James Berg on September 19, 1964 in Devils Lake, ND at St. Olafs Lutheran Church. They made their home in Lamoure, ND, where they lived a short few months, when they moved to Wahpeton, ND in December in 1964. They lived there until March of 1966. They rented a farm near Devils Lake until 1971. In 1971, Joan and Jim moved to Goodridge where they continued farming. Joan was a typical farm wife, who could back a farm truck up like nothing. She helped with all of the field work.

She attended Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls graduating in 1987 with an accounting degree. She worked for the school in Goodridge for a few months until in 1988 when she began working for Sam Genereux Insurance Agency which later became Jim Dagg Agency.

Joan's favorite pastimes included gardening and flower gardening. She was very artistic and painted many different items, including wood and saws blades. She enjoyed crafts, woodworking and ceramics. She loved to watch her grandchildrens sporting events. She was an avid Viking's fan and made it to many games. Traveling with her sisters always led her into an adventure, and she loved to visit with her cousins in Norway. She often out-fished her family and friends on Lake of the Woods. She was an avid reader. She also liked to hunt deer and moose.

Joan is survived by her husband, Jim Berg, Goodridge, MN, one daughter Jodi (Matt) Smithwick, Moorhead, MN, one son Jeff (Becky) Berg, Warroad, MN, 2 grandchildren, Logan and Ali Berg, Warroad, MN, 3 sisters, Beverly Larson, Devils Lake, ND, Dorothy (Jim) Miller, Devils Lake, ND, Sharon (David) Halvorson, Williston, ND, several nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, brother in law John Larson, and nephew Bruce Larson.
