Joan Robson, 73, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Hillcrest Nursing and Hospice Care, Red Lake Falls, MN with her family gathered by her side.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, June 16, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held 5-8 on Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday.

Joan Gunda Thompson was born on June 8, 1935, to Clayton Thomas and Gunda Johanna (Matson) Thompson in Thief River Falls, MN. She grew up in Thief River Falls and attended school there.

She was united in marriage to William Lowell Robson on July 20, 1950, in Wadena, MN. They made their home in Thief River Falls, MN. They worked with bees and wintered in other states including Indiana and Texas. She was a stay at home mother who cared for her six children, many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a variety of family pets.

Joan cherished the time spent with family and friends. Needlepoint, sewing, camping, music, attending concerts, playing bingo, and the slot machines brought her joy. She also enjoyed bird watching and visits from numerous family pets, providing each with a special treat.

She is survived by her husband William of 57 years, Thief River Falls, MN, 6 children: Diane Robson, Linda (Lawrence) Grant, Kami (John) St. Marie, William (Danica) Robson, Darin (Lisa) Robson, all of Thief River Falls, MN, and Robert (Kristine) Robson, St. Hilaire, MN, 9 grandchildren: Wendy (Mark) Daniels, Nick (Karma)Stokke, Zach and Griffin St. Marie, William James Dewey Robson, Aaron Robson, and Emily, Benjamin, and Anna Robson, 3 great grandchildren: Philip and Tate Daniels, Walker Stokke, 3 brothers: Clayton Thompson, Harold (Verna) Thompson, of Thief River Falls, Erling (Clare) Thompson, Aztec, New Mexico, 2 sisters: Carolyn (Bernard) Casavan, Wessington, SD, Elaine (Bruce) Thorstenson, Coon Rapids, MN, 2 cats: Rudy & Tiger of Thief River Falls, MN.

She was preceded in death by parents, sister Gloria (in infancy), brothers Orrin and Adrian Thompson, sisters in law: Betty Robson, Barbara Thompson, brothers in law: Arlin Robson, Bob Johnson, one nephew David Casavan.
