Johanna Hunt, 89, died Monday, July 3, 2006 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Mark Kukkonen officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Friday evening and at the Funeral Home one hour prior to service on Saturday.

Johanna Mathilda Christiansen was born August 2, 1916 in Montevideo, MN, the daughter of John and Mathilda Christiansen. She was baptized on October 21, 1922 and attended school in the Viking, MN area.

In February of 1934, Johanna was united in marriage to Gordon Stark Hunt in Thief River Falls, MN. The couple farmed and raised their family in Norden Township, Pennington County, MN. In 1970, Johanna and Gordon received the Valley Homemaker and Farmer Award. Johanna enjoyed her yard and flower garden, crafting, spending time with her family and working at Hardware Hank. She also worked at Peterson-Biddick, Montgomery Wards and Gambles, all in Thief River Falls.

She is survived by a son, Jerry and special friend, Velma Taggart of Thief River Falls, MN; daughters, Audrey (David) Thomas, New Richmond, WI and Shirley (Roger) Rabska of Oak Creek, WI; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren.

Johanna was preceded in death by and her husband, Gordon, on July 23, 1998; her parents; and one great granddaughter.
