Obituary

John Brahosky, 76, died Friday, June 30, 2006 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 6, 2006 at St. Bernards Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Father Tim McGee officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA with full military honors.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church on Thursday.

John Louis Brahosky was born December 13, 1929 at Forbes Road, PA, the son of Richard Vance and Sophia Marie (Samonick) Brahosky. He was baptized at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church at Crabtree, PA on January 12, 1930. He grew up in Forbes Road, PA and attended Greensburg, PA High School graduating in 1947. John enlisted in the US Air Force in 1947 and served his country until his retirement in July of 1967. While in the military, John attended the University of Dayton, OH for business management and technical drawing. He finished his degree at Northland Community College in Thief River Falls in 1974.

On December 19, 1969 John was united in marriage to Sharon Ann Hible in Las Vegas, NV.

John worked as a data entry clerk at Holcomb-Knutson CPAs from 1974 until 1976. He served as club manager for the American Legion Post and the VFW Post in Thief River Falls for a time. He owned and operated a company of sharpening services. He also owned and operated Big Johns muffler shop in Roseau. John worked at Arctic Cat for a short time and also was employed by Prairie Public Broadcasting in Grand Forks as a bingo caller. From December of 1992 through September of 2000, he was employed by Morgan Drive-away of Elkhart, IN, driving RVs to dealers all over the US and Canada.

John received his Senior Pro Bowling Card and bowled on the Senior Tour for 4 years. He also enjoyed golf, wood working, traveling, and spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were special to him.

John is survived by his wife Sharon of Thief River Falls, MN; children Jane (Wayne) Lloyd of Lexington, KY; David (Marci) Brahosky of Bellingham, WA, Karen Brahosky of Greenburg, PA, Daniel (Ann) Hible of Thief River Falls, MN and Patty (Steve) Lyson of Welch, MN; seven grandchildren: Julie (Alex) David of Minot, ND, Donald Hible of Norfolk, VA, Christy (Richard Anderson) Wheeler of Thief River Falls, MN, Jason (Jenni) Miller of Thief River Falls, MN, Jennifer Lloyd of Lexington, KY, Matthew Brahosky and Jason Brahosky of Burley, ID; three great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Betty Tornatore of Center Hall, PA, Dorothy (Lou) Monta of Monroeville, PA and Julie (Gerald) Dodds of Greensberg, PA: sisters in law Alice Brahosky of State College, PA and Jenni Brahosky of Jeanette, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Richard and Albert.
